Topic: Use QuicKeys to build e-mail messages from selected text

Set up a QuicKey that copies selected text, opens your e-mail program, creates a new message and pastes in the text. A great way to forward interesting information to friends and colleagues easily and efficiently.

Topic: Remap your <enter> key to send mail, but only when composing a message

I'm an Instant Message addict - typing something witty and hitting my Enter key probably 200 times per day. So when I get into my e-mail program (Apple Mail), I expect my Enter key to send my completed message but it just creates a new line instead. To remedy this I created a QuicKeys shortcut to remap my Enter key to Send Mail as long as the Send button exists (in other words, when I'm in message composition mode)...

Topic: Automate e-mail correspondence

Automate e-mail correspondence. Create text shortcuts for standard greetings, FAQ responses, customer service phrases, etc. For less commonly used responses or to insert graphics, use the QuicKeys Clips. With the Clips you don't need to remember the hot keys for each item - just call up your Clips, select the desired clip and insert.

Topic: Open your favorite web sites instantly

While all web browsers store bookmarks for you, you still have to launch your browser, open the bookmarks, find what you want, and click on it to get where you want to go. With QuicKeys you can visit your favorite websites with the press of a hot key.

Topic: Open current web page in a different browser

"I've been an OmniWeb user since my first days with Mac OS X. One of my first QuicKeys X enhancements to OmniWeb was to grab the URL of the current page, launch another browser, and open that page in the alternate browser. In those early days, OmniWeb had problems with some pages and some sites. So my three QuicKeys shortcuts (one each for Safari, Netscape and Explorer) made it easy to get past OmniWeb limitations."

"These days, OmniWeb 5 is using the same WebCore browser engine as Safari. So OmniWeb's Web site compatibility is very good. But since I'm an active beta tester of new OmniWeb releases, I'm still using my "other browser" shortcuts whenever I encounter a site glitch. Most of the time it turns out to be a broken site rather than an OmniWeb problem."

Topic: Streamline your E-mail use and Spam handling

"Not only did Quickeys launch Entourage, but the built-in added options of selecting drop down menu items allowed QuicKeys to retrieve new mail, apply the filters and dump my spam into the trash."

Topic: Launch your e-mail app and retrieve messages even when you're away

"I wanted to automatically retrieve email from my POP server using Entourage, but did not want to leave Entourage running continuously. I was able to easily develop a shortcut to launch Entourage, run the Send/Receive task while pausing the execution of the shortcut, and then terminate Entourage. The shortcut was attached to a set of timed triggers. This worked very well."

Topic: Handle separate personal and business e-mail programs with QuicKeys

" I use two different outgoing e-mail programs, in order to keep my personal and business e-mail separate. But all my mail comes in to one mail box. So I have a "reply via Outlook" shortcut that takes my incoming mail from our on-campus e-mail program, and copies it over for a reply in Outlook. The shortcut copies the sender's address and subject, and quotes the message text. It then puts the cursor in the outgoing message window, so I can type my reply. It runs in just a few seconds, and works like a charm.""
